Welcome to the wild side of the hive.
At King Bees, we’re not here to give you the same sugar-coated honey facts everyone else is peddling. We’re here to shake the hive a little. Rip the lid off. Show you just how bizarre, brutal, and brilliant the world of bees really is.
"What the Honey!?" is our no-filter content series that dives headfirst into the strange science, jaw-dropping behaviours, and untold truths behind the world’s hardest-working insects. From explosive mating rituals to bees that can remember your face, this is where the hive gets real.
Whether you’re a honey-loving foodie, a curious nature geek, or someone who just loves weird facts to whip out at dinner, this is your new favourite corner of the internet.
First up - Did you know that bees can recognise human faces?!
You might think you're just another human blur to a bee, but think again. Bees can actually recognise and remember individual human faces, using the same visual processing tricks we do. It’s called “configural processing,” and it means these tiny pollinators can piece together your eyes, nose, and mouth into a full mental mugshot.
Researchers trained bees to associate specific faces with sugary rewards—and the bees nailed it. So next time you’re out in the garden, just know: they might know who you are!
